My son Jesse is 7 and the conversation you had with Lowell is one I know well. He sets me up, it's a trap, there's nothing I can do. I'm pretty sure this is what they call being "gas lit"!

So sweet. Lovely kids. Jesse might be prescient. Tiny houses were not a thing. Plus, a shovel for impending snow storm. You have everything you need, grampa.

These are such sweet, yet very funny, stories. Lowell reminds me of my brother with the "what if" questions. He's a 55 year-old lawyer with the New York State Department of Human Rights, which fits with his early personality. My son is 12 and on the autism spectrum. He's high functioning, (I know that's not the right way to say that, and I should know how to say. it better by now, sigh) and academically gifted. So now he's both taller and smarter than I am, but he still wants me to tuck him in every time at bedtime. Father's Day in the US is in June, and I just sort of gloss over it. My father died four months after my husband in 2021 so both of us are fatherless.

Oh I know your story Amy. I have been reading your stuff. You have a lot on your plate. Take care.

I hope I'm not embarrassing either one of us when I say that Steven would be so tickled that you read something I wrote. He was a fan, as am I. If there is an afterlife, he's looking down with a big grin on his face. I appreciate your support.

I'm about 3 weeks away from becoming a Dad (to a boy), and found myself relating to this a lot, even though that makes no sense whatsoever. I guess I'm thinking about the life that's to come.

I get texts from my two sons on Father’s Day, which I suppose is better than nothing. I enjoyed your remembrances.

Lovely boys! The sugar daddy story, no words! I guess he won't go down that route. Could happen to anyone. How hard was it to let go and not tell him what to do?

Really touching, and funny, too, thank you. Glad your sons gave you permission to share it.

As a mother of two autistic young men for whom my husband and I are guardians, I appreciated this post. I also have three neurotypical girls, and they’ve given us some funny stories too.
